Installing iTunes on Windows XP x64

Did you know that iTunes does not work on Windows XP x64 Edition? Well it's true, when you download the 64 bit version of  iTunes from Apple it will attempt to install, but fail due to launch errors. Homeville Designs and Repair has solved this problem, we simply tweaked the program a little bit, and now we have a full version of iTunes for Windows XP x64 Edition. You can download this new version by clicking Here, and following the instructions below or by reading the included Readme file.

 

Instructions:

 

1. Download iTunes zip file - iTunes 8.2 Windows Xp x64

2. Extract files to desktop.

3. Open "iTunes 8.2" folder.

4. Click on the iTunes batch file to start the setup process.

5. Follow all on screen instructions.

6. Restart your computer for the changes to take effect.

7. Launch iTunes and enjoy!  

 


 

Got a iPhone or iTouch and want to use it on Windows XP x64 also? Just follow these additional instructions and you will be all set.

 

Instructions:

 

1. Right-click on "My Computer" and select "Properties".
2. Left-click "Hardware", and click "Device Manager".
3. Click the plus arrow(+) next to "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" - If you see "Apple Mobile Device USB Driver" in that list, then your iPhone is already installed. If you don't see it, go to step 4.
4. Click the plus Arrow(+) next to "Imaging Devices".
5. Right-click the Apple iPhone entry and left-click "Properties".
6. Click the "Driver" tab and click the "Update Driver" button.
7. On the "Update Wizard" that pops up, click "No, not at this time". On the next screen click "Install for a list or specific location". Click "Don't Search" and click "Next".
8. You should see two entries, "Digital Still Camera' and "Apple Mobile Device USB Driver", Select the Apple entry and click "Next".
9. Just click the "Agree" button on all pop ups to continue anyways and finish the process.
10. Restart your computer and iTunes and you're ready to go!
